From Serving in Law Enforcement to Helping Shape Its Future

After spending much of my professional life in law enforcement, I never imagined that one of the most rewarding chapters of my career would come after hanging up my badge.

By Mark Wood, CEO, LeoSight | Lt., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (ret.)

Today, as CEO of LeoSight, I have the privilege of leading an extraordinary team of people who share a common passion: making public safety better, making first responders more effective, and developing technology that can fundamentally change how agencies operate. And I can tell you, it's incredibly gratifying.

Having spent decades in law enforcement, I understand firsthand the challenges our public safety professionals face. I've experienced the frustration of trying to coordinate resources across jurisdictional boundaries, particularly during critical incidents when communication, collaboration, and timely decisions can mean the difference between life and death. For decades, we've talked about solving the problem of interoperability. We've invested billions in technology, built increasingly sophisticated systems, and made tremendous advances in what public safety agencies can see and know.

Yet one of the most fundamental challenges remains: How do we get everyone responding to an incident communicating, coordinating, and operating together, regardless of the agency they represent?

At LeoSight, we believe it's time to finally solve that problem. But our vision goes well beyond interoperability.

We're Not Building Another Surveillance Company.

The public safety technology industry has become increasingly focused on collecting more information, deploying more sensors, and expanding surveillance capabilities. There is certainly a place for technology that provides valuable information to law enforcement. But we believe the future of public safety is about much more than watching what's happening.

It's about empowering the people responsible for doing something about it.

Our focus isn't on putting more eyes on communities. It's on giving first responders the ability to see what matters, communicate instantly, coordinate their actions, and make better decisions when every second counts. We believe technology should connect people, not simply collect information about them. That distinction is fundamental to who we are and where we're going.

Customer Service Isn't a Department. It's a Commitment.

One of the things I'm most passionate about is the relationship we build with the agencies that place their trust in us. I know what it's like to sit on the other side of the table as a law enforcement professional, depending on a technology provider to deliver on its promises.

Our customers deserve more than a software subscription and a support ticket. They deserve a true partner. One that listens, responds, shows up in person, understands their operational challenges, and takes personal responsibility for their success.

Our goal is simple: Deliver the best customer experience in the public safety technology industry. Period.

That means being accessible, accountable, responsive, and genuinely invested in the success of every agency we serve. It's a standard I expect our entire organization to embrace.

And We're Just Getting Started.

Perhaps the most exciting part of leading LeoSight is knowing that what we've accomplished so far represents only the beginning. We have a long-term vision for the future of public safety technology, and it extends well beyond the solutions we're delivering today. We're challenging long-standing assumptions about how public safety technology should work. We're exploring new ways to simplify complex operations, connect previously disconnected systems, and leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to help agencies operate more intelligently and effectively.

We're not interested in simply building better versions of yesterday's technology. We want to develop solutions that redefine what's possible tomorrow.

Some of the opportunities we're pursuing address challenges the industry has accepted for decades. Others involve capabilities that, frankly, few are even considering today. We intend to be a company that doesn't simply follow the evolution of public safety technology but helps lead it.

A Mission Worth Pursuing.

I spent much of my career serving alongside men and women who put the safety of others ahead of their own. I have tremendous respect for the work they do and the sacrifices they make. Today, I get to serve that same community in a different capacity. And I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity.

Our ambition at LeoSight is significant. We intend to build the premier public safety technology company of the future. Not simply through the products we develop, but through the problems we solve, the trust we earn, the partnerships we build, and the service we provide.

I recognize that earning that distinction will take years of innovation, execution, and an unwavering commitment to our customers. But I believe we have the people, the passion, and the vision to get there.

The next generation of public safety technology shouldn't be defined by how much information we can collect. It should be defined by how effectively we help those who protect our communities act on it.

That's the future we're building at LeoSight. And for this retired police lieutenant, it's a privilege to be part of it.
